Chapter 1: The Terror in Room 402

The maternity wing of Manhattan’s Presbyterian Hospital was supposed to be a sanctuary of hope, but inside Room 402, it felt like an execution chamber. The sterile hospital room echoed with the terrifying sounds of a violent, targeted confrontation.

"You don't deserve this."

The cruel mother-in-law, Eleanor Vance, hissed those vicious words as she violently shoved a heavy black bag at the helpless pregnant woman trapped in the hospital bed.

The bag crashed against the plastic guardrail, hitting the mattress just inches from Clara’s protruding stomach. Clara gasped, instinctively curling her body into a defensive fetal position to shield her eight-month unborn child. She wept helplessly in her gown as the black bag spilled its contents onto the floor—shredded divorce settlement drafts, a one-way ticket out of New York, and stacks of cash meant to buy her permanent silence.

"You are a parasite, Clara," Eleanor snarled, her diamonds catching the harsh, clinical glare of the fluorescent lights. "My son made a grave mistake marrying a penniless nobody like you. You think you're going to secure a stake in the Vance family fortune with that brat in your womb? Sign the papers and disappear tonight, or I will make sure you lose everything—including custody the second that child draws breath."

Eleanor thought she could freely terrorize the vulnerable girl while her son was out of town, convinced her iron-fisted dominance in the wealthy family allowed her to treat her daughter-in-law like disposable garbage. She assumed physical intimidation would force the girl into total submission, entirely oblivious to the fact that her horrific actions were about to be intercepted by a catastrophic reckoning.

Weeping in the bed, desperately shielding her unborn child, was a mother enduring sheer terror. The same cold hospital room. The same toxic family abuse. The only difference was the heavy, rhythmic footsteps suddenly echoing down the hallway.
